Object storage is, at least conceptually, the perfect answer to many of the longstanding issues with data storage, such as the excessively long rebuild times experienced with high-capacity storage devices, parity overhead, and the need for a global namespace and scalability. However, object storage is still in the beginning stages of adoption — with the exception of Amazon’s S3 services, which has a rapid growth curve and is already raking in over $1 billion per year.
The SwiftStack platform brings object storage to the enterprise while also providing a level of freedom from the perils of vendor lock-in, thus reducing cost. SwiftStack has a laser-like focus on providing simplicity at scale, which is increasingly important to reduce cost and provide businesses with the agility to respond quickly to rapidly changing needs.
