SwiftStack Named Product of the Year Finalist by Storage Magazine and SearchStorage for Software-Defined and Cloud Storage

San Francisco – February 6, 2019 – SwiftStack, the leader in multi-cloud data storage and management, today announced it has been selected as a finalist in the Software-Defined and Cloud Storage category of the Storage magazine and SearchStorage 2018 Products of the Year awards.

Award judges particularly noted SwiftStack’s 1space, a single namespace providing unified access to data regardless of its location, a technology it contributed to the open-source community.

“A single namespace spanning on-premises object storage and one or more public cloud sites enables live, non-disruptive data and application migration without the need to change any code,” wrote senior editor Carol Sliwa. “Users can apply policies to ensure data is stored in the optimal location for compute, analytics, archiving and external client or third-party access.”

“Cloud-native storage is driving many of the new trends and use cases in our industry such as big data analytics, AI/ML, and scientific research, because these data-driven applications and workflows need to span on-prem and cloud resources on demand and with more ease than has been possible in the past,” said Erik Pounds, Vice President of Marketing at SwiftStack. “We congratulate all the finalists and appreciate the team at Storage magazine and SearchStorage for constantly encouraging SwiftStack and other vendors to put forth our best efforts in our categories.”

Storage magazine and SearchStorage selected finalists in six categories on the basis of innovation, performance, ease of integration, ease of use and manageability, functionality and value. Winners will be announced in the February issue of Storage magazine and online at SearchStorage.com.

SwiftStack is a software-defined distributed data storage and management system that leverages on-premises and public cloud infrastructure. It can be easily deployed and scaled by adding standard server hardware on premises and accounts in Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform. Applications and users are given universal access (file and object) to a single data namespace, and data is placed across the system by user-defined policies. Any amount of metadata can be added and indexed in the system, allowing for full awareness and utilization of valuable business assets.
