SwiftStack Used to Showcase the Scale-Out Workload Capabilities of Intel® Atom™ C2000

Private cloud storage software demonstrated with new processor product family at Intel Developer Forum

SAN FRANCISCO - (Sept. 11, 2013) - SwiftStack , a technology innovator of privat e cloud storage for modern applications, today announced that Intel is demonstrating SwiftStack’s private cloud storage solution to showcase the scale-out workload capabilities of its new family of processors. The second generation 64-bit Inte l® Atom™ C2000 product family (code named "Avoton") is a data center product for cloud service providers looking to increase efficiency and flexibility in their infrastructure.

“Consumerization and SaaS are fundamentally changing workloads in data centers today, particularly around storing unstructured data.” said Joe Arnold, CEO of SwiftStack. “With software-defined storage, having the right standards-based hardware to run new storage workloads is vital to the success of private storage clouds. Our custome rs are looking for new levels of efficiency and density for scale-out workloads like SwiftStack storage, and the new C2000 product family demonstrates innovation in response to these requirements.

Server and storage infrastructure is evolving to increase utilization, drive down costs, and provide compelling and consistent experiences to consumers and businesses. With OpenStack Object Storage (code named Swift), the proxy services which route incoming requests to store or read data and the storage services that store the actual data are commonly run on different nodes, specifically tuned for those workloads. Leveraging the C2000 product family and its new ultra-low power design in 22nm Tri-Gate SoC process, new all-in-one nodes for storage workloads like Swi ftStack are possible.

At IDF13, Intel is showing SwiftStack private cloud storage software for an all-in-one 12-drive, 1U storage node (code named Canyon Run) in the Intel booth #835 at the Moscone Convention Center, and is also using Swift workloads as pa rt of a Rack Scale Architecture demonstration in Intel booth #822. In addition, Intel Engineers will present and discuss running Swift workloads controlled by SwiftStack at the following sessions:
